SOLDIERS OF THE CROSS! ANNUAL MEN’S DAY HITS AN ALL TIME HIGH! By Rev. Odinga Lawrence Maddox, II Sunday, October 29, 2006,Annual Men’s Day was celebrated in grand fashion. Under the chairmanship of Bros. Michael D. Parks, Sr. and Michael Ramsey, the men rose to the occasion through out the month of October, sponsoring various events that included; Bowling 4 Jesus, The 8th Annual Father & Son Breakfast, The Fall Fashion & Style Show as well as the weekly Hot Dog & Sausage stand and the “A Few Good Men” Booklet. This year’s theme was, “Soldiers of the Cross.” Our guest preacher was Min. J. Forrest Gilmore, Assistant Minister, Grace Assembly of God Church, Minister Gilmore delivered a powerful message using the Roman Soldier as an illustration of Christians. We must always be dressed for battle and willing to fight the enemy along side our brothers and our sisters. This year, the men and membership set a financial record in funds generated. But most importantly, the church was blessed through fellowship and leadership of our men.

CHURCH REDEDICATION CELEBRATION By Sis. Blondell K. Spellman The congregation of Price Memorial celebrated our Church Rededication the weekend of April 29-30, 2006. The praise and worship festivities began at Noon on Saturday with a concert and reception. The Ministry of Music was provided by the Gospel male quartet, Men on a Their songs of praise filled the sanctuary and touched the hearts of all in attendance. Many members joined the Hostess Committee in preparing a wonderful reception afterwards in the fellowship hall. Our pastor, the Reverend Odinga Lawrence Maddox, II, presided over the Sunday Morning Worship Service. Bishop Nathaniel Jarrett, Jr. was the guest preacher and delivered a sermon with a soul-stirring message. Bishop Jarrett’s topic was “Dedicate the Right Thing.” The Scriptural basis was Matthew 21:12-14, 1 Kings 8:63 and Ezra 6:16-18. Bishop Jarrett instructed us that Jesus will turn the table on us if we are focused on dedicating “things” rather than “ourselves” to God. Christians can look forward to a brighter day (“to tomorrow”) only when we understand that “its not what is done but the way or how its done.” When Christians “dedicate the right thing (ourselves)” then Jesus won’t let the weapons of our enemies harm us. Bishop Jarrett reminded us that we are to love and support each other in keeping with God’s word. We have to be mindful of our behavior towards each other even in church because church is a place of worship and healing. The combined choir sang each choral selection with power of voice and sweetness of song. The Holy Spirit moved mightily throughout the service. After morning service, there was a delicious wholesome meal served in the fellowship hall typical of the outstanding cooks at Price Memorial! This family dinner with Bishop Jarrett further emphasized the need for Christians to gather together as the body of Jesus Christ. Nearly 100 of our members were in attendance and we were all blessed by each person’s presence. The Price Memorial family is truly “Forging Ahead Together.” We praise the Lord for His abundant blessings. Let us remember to dedicate the right thing!
